Ameesha - "If 'Ready' can be a success, so can 'Chatur Singh...'"

It isn't every year that Ameesha Patel does a comedy. Known more for her dramatic outings, namely 'Gadar - Ek Prem Katha', 'Humraaz', 'Vaada', 'Mangal Pandey' and 'Ankahee' to name a few, she has seldom touched upon comic genre. However once she made a strong impression in 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd' and followed it up with a special appearance in 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic', quite a few makers rose up to her comic skills and were convinced that she could do justice to an out and out comedy as well. This is what led to 'Chatur Singh Two Star', her newest film where she is paired opposite Sanjay Dutt.

"This is one movie which is full of idiotic jokes. I am playing a complete goof here and trust me there was not a drop of glycerine that was needed since the only tears that were rolling down were those of laughter. The film is really funny and I sincerely believe that when people can like stuff like 'Ready', they would give a Thumbs-Up to 'Chatur...' too," says Ameesha.

Last time when Ameesha and Sanjay Dutt had come together, it was a relatively serious outing in the form of 'Tathastu'. However things are different in case of 'Chatur Singh....' which is an out and out comedy.

"And trust me, the character of 'Chatur Singh' that Sanju plays in the film is such that it would be a riot on screen," promises Ameesha, "Though he is a complete idiot in the film, he thinks that he very smart. He plays a spy in the film and even though he is convinced within his own self that he is quite bright, the fact is that he is a complete buffoon."

Also starring Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover, Satish Kaushik and Suresh Menon in principal roles, 'Chatur Singh Two Star' is directed by Ajay Chandok and releases all over on 19th August.

Saif, Deepika on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'

Big B's excited about the 'interesting candidates'

More Bollywood stars ready to be millionaires - Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone will appear as special guests on the fifth season of game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', which starts off August 15 with Amitabh Bachchan as the host.

"One interesting candidate and the entire anxiety of the working of the show just flies past .. we had a few today and tomorrow is another day .. let us hope that all goes well .. the second episode towards the evening will have invites to Saif and Deepika .. who come to promote their film and mine as well - 'Aarakshan' !!!"Amitabh posted on his blog.

"In many ways, the philosophy of the film and that of KBC is quite similar. Given opportunity, even the lesser privileged shall prosper. Or at least have the capacity to prosper," he wrote.

However, Mumbai rains played spoilsport as the production unit had to stall the shooting of the show several times.

"The rains have been incessant.. and so harsh that we had to stop shooting KBC at times, because of the noise factor. But all in all a most satisfying day … harsh and hard, but satisfactory," Amitabh said.

Saif had previously appeared with Preity Zinta in the second season of the show, while Deepika came as a guest last year although she didn't play.

'Dhoom 3' delayed as he asks for family time with Aishwarya

Abhishek wants paternity leave

Abhishek Bachchan's ready for daddy duty when wife Aishwarya Rai has their baby in November 2011 - and he's already making time in his busy schedule for the new addition to the family. Buzz is that 'Dhoom 3', which was to begin shooting in November, has been delayed as Abhi wants to spend time with Ash.

Abhishek plays Inspector Jai Dixit in the 'Dhoom' franchise, part three of which was to have begun shooting in November 2011. But as Jr B has asked for time off, the movie will now probably start shooting in December 2011 or maybe even January 2012.

Yash Raj Films had no issues with changing the dates as the Chopra family is very close to the Bachchans. While Yash Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan have worked together since the 1970s and share a great rapport, sons Aditya and Uday are very good friends with Abhishek and Ash, both of whom have worked in the 'Dhoom' movies.

While Abhishek and Uday (who plays Ali in the franchise), who are old hands at 'Dhoom', prepare for their roles, so does Aamir Khan. Aamir plays the villain (reportedly a gymnast) in the latest and his scenes will apparently only be shot around May 2012

‘I Love You’ from ‘Bodyguard’

Check out Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the brand new song from the movie

Salman Khan's whopping Rs 50 crore pay cheque

Salman Khan, who had supposedly reduced his fee for 'Ready' (due to the recession) has now increased it after the movie's success. And the new pay cheque that Sallu wants reportedly reads a massive Rs 50 crores!

Allegedly, some filmmakers have confirmed that it's the amount Salman has been quoting. And the buzz is that producers are willing to pay the superstar his revised fee!

With his newly acquired confidence as a box office champ, Salman is also working on proving himself as the best dancer among all the Khans.

This was his brief to his current favourite choreographer Mudassar Khan, when they started shooting the track 'Desi beat' for his upcoming 'Bodyguard'.

"Salman is hell-bent on proving he's the best dancer among the Khans. When 'Desi beat' was being planned, Salman very clearly told Mudassar that he wants to be the best dancer among all the Khans. Salman shot the song like crazy," a source says.

As if getting his favourite choreographer was not enough, Salman also got on board a song director to shoot the number.

Akshay's 'Singh Is Kinng 2' love

What's he waiting for to make the sequel?
Akshay Kumar says he is very keen to make a sequel to his 2008 hit 'Singh Is Kinng' and that he is just waiting for the right script.

"I am keen to (make the sequel), but not getting the right subject to make it. Once I get it, I would love to make the sequel," Akshay said at the launch of the second anniversary issue of Star Week magazine.

Akshay and his wife Twinkle Khanna have posed for the cover of the glossy.

The 43-year-old, who turned producer and launched his company the Hari Om Entertainment, has made films like 'Khatta Meetha' and 'Tees Maar Khan'.

Akshay, who is producing the Indo-Canadian venture 'Breakaway', said: "It feels great that I could do something which I had never imagined. It's a very big thing for me."

Directed by Canadian Robert Lieberman, 'Breakaway' is the tale of a young Indian ice hockey player who wants to get into the big league. The Indian version of the film has been named 'Speedy Singhs'.

Releasing September 30, 'Breakaway' stars Vinay Virmani, Rob Lowe, Russell Peters, Camilla Belle, Noureen DeWulf and Anupam Kher. Akshay has a cameo in the film.

Anupam Kher at war with 'Gandhi To Hitler' producers

He's refusing to return the signing amount he received for the movie
With a producer making a hue and cry over Anupam Kher's refusal to return the signing amount of 'Gandhi To Hitler', the actor has now approached the CINTAA for a resolution.

While Nalin Singh, the co-producer and actor from 'Gandhi To Hitler' feels Anupam has been unfair to the project by opting out and refusing to return the signing amount, Anupam feels the timing of Nalin's allegations smacks of a publicity gimmick.

Raza Murad, the chairperson of the joint dispute settlement committee of the CINTAA (Cinema & Television Artistes' Assoction), supports Anupam.

"In my 25 years of association with CINTAA, we've never received any complaint against Mr Anupam Kher. Producers choose to work with him repeatedly. He is one of our most professional actors," said Raza Murad.

"Why didn't the makers of this film ('Gandhi To Hitler') approach us earlier? Sometimes an actor is unable to do a film even after taking the signing amount. There's nothing alarming about this. Why didn't they complain when Anupam backed out. Why now?"

About returning signing amounts Raza Murad said: "There's a mutual understanding between the actor and producer about this matter. But in this case the producers did not ask Anupam back for the money at the time he opted out. Maybe there was an understanding that the signing amount would be adjusted for whatever preparation Anupam had undertaken.

"If this was not the case why didn't the producers ask back for their signing amount earlier? The producer Anil Kumar Sharma seems to be a thorough gentleman. Then why was Anupam's picture torn up at a press conference for 'Gandhi To Hitler' in Chandigarh. This was a gesture in very bad taste. Anupam is not an anti-national element nor is he a politician. We don't indulge in such gestures against our artistes."

Raza Murad cites the example of Mallika Sherawat in a similar case. "After taking the the signing amount for a film Mallika visited certain areas with the director for 10 days to prepare for the role. Her stand was, 'Yes I had taken money but I've also invested my time in preparation'."

Murad makes it vocally clear that using artistes' names negatively to promote a film won't be tolerated.

"It's a small industry. There are no permanent enemies and friends here. We don't approve of this kind of publicity where you indulge an artiste's character assassination. We're here to protect our artistes. But if an artiste is in the wrong we won't hesitate in pulling him or her up," he said.

I couldn’t drive anymore because I was crying so I stopped the car and pulled over. I called my mother and told her that I got this film. Do you know what my mother told me? She said that there was this turtle that used to be in my room - I think its some Feng Shui thing - you open the turtle and you put a wish in the turtle. And when it comes true you take it out. She's never told me about this. But after I got the film she opened it and she showed it to me and she had written there - I hope that my daughter stars in a Yash Raj film. I swear! It’s unbelievable! I think somewhere she always wanted me to be an actress."

Sanjay Dutt tells us why he has had enough of it

"I will never return to politics"
His father was a successful actor and politician, but when Sanjay Dutt entered politics in 2009, he couldn't replicate the late Sunil Dutt's success. Now, Sanju baba has vowed never to return to that field again.

"I don't want to return to politics. I want to be away from it. I will never think of getting back there," Sanjay, whose younger sister Priya Dutt is an MP from the Mumbai North Central constituency, said.

During the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Sanjay, who was nominated by the Samajwadi Party from Lucknow, a seat once held by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee of the Bharatiya Janata Party, was barred from contesting as he was convicted for illegally storing and then destroying arms during the 1993 Mumbai blasts. The Supreme Court refused to suspend his conviction to permit him to contest.

"I had gone to UP (Uttar Pradesh) for three months. But I feel that the acting we do in films is better than the acting that people do on stage there. So I don't want to do that," he said with a laugh.

The 51-year-old was also appointed the Samajwadi Party's general secretary but he resigned after a short stint.

Vidya & Naseeruddin play 'dirty' in oranges

These are the days of paying tribute to bygone years... Important incidents and personalities of yesteryears have become a source of inspiration for our filmmakers now. And one of them is Ekta Kapoor, who has been successful in recreating classic era through 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai'. Now she is all set to charm us again, this time brining up yesteryear reel sexy siren Silk Smitha in Milan Luthria's forthcoming biopic The Dirty Picture', where Vidya Balan plays the lead.

Movies then were quite colourful and so were the celebrities who had larger than life image. Elaborate settings, uniform choreography, highly decorative props-were part and parcel of old songs then. To match with the bygone era films, the director Milan Luthria recently ordered two truckloads of oranges for a sensational song sequence in 'The Dirty Picture'.

The track was picturised on Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah and shot at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.

In true South style, over a thousand oranges were rolled down a hillside as the actors danced to choreographer Pony Verma's matkas and jhatkas - reminiscent of the erstwhile Jeetendra-starrer 'Himmatwala'!

In 'The Dirty Picture', Naseer, who plays a South Indian superstar, consented to dancing after 20 years, as it was in line with the requirements of his character. He was last seen dancing with Sonam in Rajiv Rai's smash hit, 'Tridev'.

Previous Breaking News: Aamir Khan issued High Court notice

Will the 'Delhi Belly' controversies never end for him?
The Allahabad High Court today (July 25) issued notices to Aamir Khan and two others in connection with the public exhibition of an objectionable song from his latest production venture 'Delhi Belly', a lawyer said.

While hearing a public interest litigation, seeking a ban on showing the controversial song 'D K Bose', a division bench also issued a notice to the censor board and Ram Sampat, the writer of the song.

The petition was moved by law graduate Saumitra Dwivedi.

"It was stated that the public exhibition of the (objectionable) song stands in violation of the `A' certificate given to the movie for its adult content, and therefore it should be screened only in the movie and not anywhere else," counsel Vinay Saran told reporters.

"The division bench has given two weeks time to Khan and others to file their reply. The next date of hearing has been fixed August 9," he added.

Karan Johar is known as the king of candy

floss romantic emotional dramas like ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and ‘Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai’. The actor thought of getting out of the box recently with films like ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ and ‘My Name is Khan’ but now he is trying to get totally out of his comfort zone.

Kjo is actually inspired and awe-struck by Aamir Khan’s Imran, Kunaal Roy Kapoor and Vir Das starrer ‘Dehli Belly’. Karan says that he loved the film and nowhere the sex comedy made him feel uncomfortable. So he would himself attempt to make a sex comedy.

But Karan also admits that he needs Aamir’s help to make such a film as only a gutsy producer like him can put his hands into something so experimental.

Katrina Kaif gives Hrithik Roshan a bike as a promotional

She made heads turn in disbelief when she hit the road on a Royal Enfield.

In order to promote her recently released film 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' literally on a road, Katrina Kaif yesterday rode the bike on Whistling Woods roads, much to the surprise of passer-bys.

In grey and black outfit, complete with boots and helmet, Katrina looked like a ravishing tomboy. However, no public person was able to come near her, as Katrina had bodyguards driving around her on their own bikes.

What's more surprising was; Katrina had her hot co-star Hrithik Roshan in the pillion. While Hrithik was having fun sitting behind cracking jokes, Kat had her eyes and mind all focused on the road.
